About Us
The South African Institute for Life Coach Training (SAILCT) was founded by Roy Harris. Roy is also the CEO and Founder of a non-profit organization providing 24-hour care to more than 300 long-term psychiatric patients (mentalhealth.org.za). Roy is a Certified Life Coach, and received his certification through the Institute for Life Coach Training (ILCT) (lifecoachtraining.com) in the USA.
The South African population, and especially the younger generation, is now at a point in time where they do not want to conform to old ways and structures, especially in the light of their political past. People want to move on, transform and not conform. We all know too well that this process is activated by the renewing of your mind and embarking on a journey of self-discovery.
One of the most important tools is Life Coaching. Life Coaching skills breathe new life into people, their practices and perceptions, resulting into a self-driven desire to obtain purpose and passion.
The first SAILCT information session was held on January 30, 2007 in Cape Town, South Africa. The response was overwhelming, with more than 110 persons attending. The second information session was scheduled in Gauteng Province a few months later. The SAILCT has ever since been offering a variety of tailor made courses, some focusing on specific people and target groups and some designed for corporate companies.
In 2008, Dr. Pat Williams, Founder of Coaching the Global Villiage (CGV), & Roy Harris met in Orlando, Florida USA. Dr. Pat has played a tremendous role in terms of his contribution made towards the Life Coach Training industry globally. He has authored many books over the years which are used as additional sources in our courses.
Although Life Coaching is relatively new to South Africa, there are other reputable Life Coaching academies and schools doing wonderful work. We are determined to enhance the industry, and hope to play a major role in providing quality training for anyone.
